InstaMAT 2025 adds real-time ray tracing, advanced material effects, and HDRI lighting, streamlining 3D texturing and visualization workflows.
InstaMAT 2025 introduces groundbreaking viewport enhancements that empower 3D artists with real-time ray tracing for shadows, global illumination, and reflections. As showcased in a new tutorial video, this update streamlines workflows by providing photorealistic previews directly in InstaMAT Studio, eliminating the need for external renderers during texturing and material creation.
The viewport toolbar now features one-click ray tracing activation that instantly adds visual depth to assets, such as brick materials created in the Element Graph. Through the settings panel, artists can fine-tune each ray tracing effect—including global illumination that simulates natural light bounces for more realistic scene lighting. For higher quality renders, simply increase the ray tracing quality with a simple dropdown menu. Artists can quickly capture the viewport to the clipboard for immediate sharing in chat threads or image editing programs, making it perfect for rapid design reviews. The custom HDRI environment support ensures consistent lighting across projects by simply dragging and dropping them into the viewport.
The update also enhances bloom and emissive effects for glowing materials such as those available in the built-in library. Realistic surfaces—such as car paint, fabrics, and glass—benefit from support for advanced properties, including clear coat, anisotropy, sheen, and transmission. The video also highlights InstaMAT Studio’s animation tools with a dope sheet and playback capture, allowing for ray-traced video exports ranging from turntables to dynamic animated videos and effects.
These enhancements transform InstaMAT Studio into a comprehensive hub for material visualization and asset texturing, significantly streamlining professional workflows.
